Abraham- The Hebrew patriarch from whom all Jews trace their descent.
Jacob- A Hebrew patriarch, the younger of the twin sons of Isaac and Rebecca, who persuaded his brother Esau to sell to him his birthright and tricked him out of his father's blessing.

Passover- The major Jewish spring festival that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery, lasting seven or eight days from the 15th day of Nisan.
Mount Sinai- The bible says God gave Moses the law of the Jews on Mount Sinai.
Torah-The law of God as revealed to Moses and recorded in the first five books of the Hebrew scriptures.
Jericho- A town in Palestine, on West Bank, north of the Dead Sea.

The Promised Land-The land that God promised he would give to the descendants of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob; the land flowing with milk and honey.
Deborah- A biblical prophet and leader who inspired the Israelite army to defeat the Canaanites.
Phoenicians-A member of a Semitic people inhabiting ancient Phoenicia and its colonies.
Alphabet-A group of letters that stood for sound.
Canaanites- A biblical name for the area of ancient Palestine west of the Jordan River, the Promised Land of the Israelites, who conquered and occupied it during the latter part of the 2nd millennium BC.
